Cultural Learning Opportunity (& Free Stuff)

The wide variety of visual and performing art programs happening on our campus provide learning, enjoyment and insight into diverse cultures. Taking advantage of these offerings can add a rich dimension to your liberal arts education. We have one such opportunity coming up on Sat. February 25, 2012 at 8pm when the Illinois Symphony Orchestra will perform “Ecstatic and Exotic” in the Sangamon Auditorium.

Here are details about the performance:

An evening to be dazzled, opening with the ecstatic Rapture of Christopher Rouse which transports us to a world devoid of darkness.  Upon arrival, critically-acclaimed harpist Bridget Kibbey joins the orchestra for a journey on rented angel wings in Rodrigo’s seraphic Concierto Serenata.  Based on The Arabian Nights, the exotic and colorful Scheherazade of Rimsky-Korsakov is a perfect ending to bring us back to Earth.

Here is the free stuff part:

We have 20 free tickets, compliments of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, which will be allotted on a first come first serve basis to students who email me at mnoll1@uis.edu to request a ticket.
