This Week in Advising

This has been a busy week for your Advising Center crew. It is our second of the two weeks that we have dedicated to summer fall 2012 advising. Tomorrow is the last day to meet with your advisor prior to the start of registration. That’s right–registration starts on Monday, April 2. Have you go online to learn when your time ticket is? Your time ticket is the earliest time that you can register. Find that information out now so that you can make sure you are registering at the earliest time that you possibly can. Remember spaces in classes at UIS are limited, and we want you to have a space in the classes that you want and need.

The free symphony tickets for this weekend’s performance are nearly gone. If you want a ticket and can pick it up today or tomorrow in our office, BRK 472, then email Mae at mnoll1@uis.edu please.

Our office manager Lesly Schoo was a member of the search committee which selected the new UIS volleyball coach. The new coach is now here. We welcome her aboard and thank Lesly for her service to University athletics.

If you were in the Advising Center on Tuesday, you may be a star now. We had an official photo shoot to promote the Advising Center in campus publications. Thanks to our Peer Advisors and student workers and to Nabile, Shannon and Dylan for being the perfect “model students” this week.

Mae attended the Speakers Series speaker, Dr. Victor Cha, on Tuesday night in Brookens Auditorium.  His talk about the future and past of North Korea was timely and interesting. If you have time, I urge you to watch it online if you missed it. There are still a few Speakers Series events left this year if you want to take advantage of these unique learning opportunities for UIS students and community members.
