Lync Server Maintenance

The Lync server is having some problems with a Windows Update. I will
need to manually fix the problem, and reboot this server. Lync users
will experience a temporary outage as I do this, and I will post back on
the blog when it is repaired 🙂

Rave Guardian

We have made strides in the implementation of the Rave Guardian product. We had the first training session for the Police dispatch personnel yesterday and they were all impressed. Please take a couple of minutes and log into the Rave site to see what is new on your profile. If you wish complete the Basic Guardian information, you don’t have to use it. If you complete the basic information you will receive a text message with two numbers, one for Guardian Timer and one for Guardian Immediate. Both numbers should be saved to your cell phone.
Just a side note, UIUC has not started the Guardian piece of their Rave rollout, they are focusing only on the Alert and getting people signed up.

Welcome Josh!

I am very pleased to announce that Josh Irons is our “newest” employee here in ITS. I say “newest” because josh is well known to most of you due to his 6+ years of service with ITS as a student worker, graduate assistant and extra help employee. Please take the time today to welcome josh to his new role in the helpdesk as our lead troubleshooter and technology expert.

RAVE – Guardian

UIS has completed the contract process with Rave and we are ready to move forward. Kevin and I had a Webex meeting with Bill Homer this morning and he is ready to install the Guardian piece onto the PC in the police station. The Guardian product does more and has some built in safe guards to prevent abuse. I will be in contact with the group planning the rollout to determine the best time to train the dispatchers and when to begin our signup campaign.

Unity Voice Mail Server Shut Down

The Cisco Unity Voice Mail Server has been Shut down.
We believe that all active phone lines are now routing to the new MS exchange Unified Message server.
We have recorded a message for the old Cisco Unity server so if you dial 206-2000 from on or off campus you get the message stating that the server has been decommissioned and for help to call the Helpdesk at 206-6000.
