Welcome to the UIS Information Technology Services Status blog! As part of our continuing mission to provide services and solutions that advance the UIS vision, mission and strategic goals, this blog is intended to provide the UIS campus community with timely information regarding the status of ITS-provided computer network services.

The first type of information you can find here will be that related to planned scheduled maintenance or upgrades of campus IT services. When ITS plans to perform an system upgrade or maintenance procedure that will impact access to campus IT services, we will post that information here at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled work time. We will include a brief description of what work is planned, why the work is being done, the estimated amount of time the work will take to compete, and what the impact will be to the campus.

Another type of information you can find here will be updates on any unplanned network service disruptions currently in progress. When something happens that causes one or more network services to become dysfunctional, we will post what we know about the cause, impact and estimated time to recovery (if known) here.

Finally, we may also occasionally post other key information regarding ITS systems that we want the campus community be aware of. Examples might include how to use RSS feeds to monitor this blog, how to leave comments, how to use Categories to filter information, and what to do if your computer isn’t functioning normally.

Wanted: Your Feedback

Most importantly, we wanted to provide an easy way for our user community to provide their feedback to the work we’re doing. By using the comments feature of this blog, any active UIS faculty, staff or student can share their own thoughts, concerns, suggestions, frustrations or kuddos as they see fit.
