The New England Journal of Higher Education has an interesting article entitled “Cheating, Student Authentication and Proctoring in Online Programs” by Dennis Berkey and Jay Halfond.  Key results from their survey research include:

  • 84% of respondents believe that student dishonesty is a significant issue
  • Half of respondents believe that the general public thinks dishonesty is more likely to happen in online learning than traditional, on-campus learning
  • Less than half of the respondents use test proctoring for online courses
