Spring Break is Over…Whoa

I mean seriously, what the heck happened? It seems like an eternity ago I was studying(surfing the internet.) listening to Bach(Rebecca Black) and contemplating the infinite(If Charlie Sheen and Muammar Gadaffi fought, who would win?). But now I am back, as are you I presume, and staring at the blank screen that is my PC and wondering how I can spring into the second half of the semester?
Oh…that’s right, wonderful events by the Stars’ Lounge! I should have thought about that sooner.

Alright, looking down the list here we have…

Better than your grandmother's cookies

Oh yeah! That thing I’ve been talking(griping) about for weeks now. Look, I don’t expect you to be a super duper gamer who can tell the difference between the Water Temple and Squirtle( Two totally separate genre of video-games), but if you do come out with some of your friends, I’ll guarantee a good time.

Now, for those who were dissuaded by my logical, sarcastic and convincing rhetoric, there is always Late Night. Ah, Late Night. The Glory of lights, music and this month’s theme is….oh crap, video-games.

Look, don’t walk away. Keep that mouse.Right.Here.
Obviously the universe is telling you something fellow UISer. You need to play video-games. Just this week. Maybe you play all the time. Maybe you were touched by a Nintendo in the third grade and you’ve never forgiven it. Or maybe you break down taboos you associated with this joyous machine and give it a whirl.

Late Night=Great Night

Breaking the Spring dull

Hey Stars!

Some sweet events coming up for you after Spring break, but first lets go over some important spring break tips.
1: Do “Feed the Animals”
“Feed the Animals” is an album by GirlTalk and it will change your worldview. Well, that is a bit of a stretch, but if you party with friends or by yourself, this album will keep you pumped throughout break.
2: Spring Clothing
For the rest of Spring Break, it will be a nice 60 degrees, but partly cloudy. So grab a nice hoodie and enjoy the limited sun!
3: Condoms
Lots and lots of condoms. I think the reason is obvious, even if you are on birth control, use condoms!
4: Drink Lots of Water
More than half of our bodies are made of water. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that we should keep a nice cool glass. It did take a genius to find the percentages.

Look out for an update menu after break, new leagues and the Halo Tournament, March 24th from 6pm-1am. Teams of 4, with a choice of 4v4, CTF or Assault.

Keep it here for more updates Stars, and have a great break!

So sweet to be loved by you…

Got some great updates for you! We are continuing our wonderful new “How To” series with “How to Make Treats” Learn how to make puppy chow, ice cream and trail mix! Fun starts at 4:30pm and ends around 5:30pm on the 9th. Hopefully you’ll ignore your dentist and enjoy some delicious treats.
Thanks to those that came out for the Oscar party. It’s safe to say that no one dropped F-bombs through tears…or sang with a school choir, but someone did wear a dress. 
After Spring Break, we are having our semester Halo Tournament, it will be 4v4, groups chose between CTF(Capture the Flag), Team Battle or Assault. Register by emailing your team name, and members to studentcenter@uis.edu, or write it on the Facebook event!
Now for a video of a honey badger:

Oh the things I do for fun…

Hey Stars!

Bored because the Super Bowl is over? Well, this Sunday won’t be filled with 300lb men battering each other over the head for a ball made of pigskin, but we have something just the same: The Oscars. ;) For the party, you can expect Mocktails, red carpet treatment and probably crying actors, either in the Stars’ Lounge or on T.V. (Whom am I kidding? Probably both). So bring your friends, enjoy virgin drinks and be merry!

Not as good as the Super Bowl, but it'll do.

March 7thg is “How to Make your own Treats” with our own Cord Patrick, the wonderful man who built our Snack Stadium at the SUper Bowl. He’ll be handing out lessons about making treats, and being oh so sweet(corny, i know, but awesome)

With that we leave you with this video:

Super Bowl

Hey Stars!
The Super Bowl party was awesome! Thanks for those that came out and enjoy the big screen( though it was in reverse :( )
Here’s a pic of the Snack Stadium.

Thanks to Cord Patrick for the greatest culinary creation the Stars’ Lounge has ever seen(though the pie was close).

Cord(Right)

Now, here are some pictures to make you feel bad for not showing up( I’m looking at you Jay Cutler).

If for some reason you couldn’t make it( We’ll assume something terrible or time consuming took over your life) we got an Oscar party in a couple of weeks. We’ll have ballots to fill out for who you think will win the biggest awards, and the person with the best record gets… a prize!( I know, you’re thinking to yourself “ How many prizes can they give away?” Answer: As many as we want!)

Leagues!

Hey Stars!
Now I am under the impression that some of you like football? Is that right? Well, good. Because Sunday is the going to be the greatest day of all time(barring the fact that your team is not in the game)! The Snack Stadium, Big Screen have been approved for the big game. As for door prizes? Oh-they’ll be there too. ;)

Here are some League Promos:

Wii Bowling League

Ping Pong League

Billiards League

The Halo League and Card Game league promos will come up later. However with the Snow Storm, expect the leagues to start next week.

This is slightly out of there, but I thought that this talk from TED describes social media succinctly.

How the Internet enables intimacy

We’ll be open tomorrow! Come out, grab some hot cocoa and play on your day off.
