Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Museum Trip | 10:00-11:30am | Sponsored by History Club | Students will meet in the front of the lower level of UHB on Friday morning at 10:00 AM to check in and get a finalized head count. We will then make our way to the provided transportation and head to the museum (629 South 7th street Springfield, IL 62703) and enjoy a private tour of the museum and a chance to speak with the local member of the National Women’s Relief Corps. The tour and visit should take roughly an hour. Around 11:15 we will head back to UIS and unload in the same spot that we were picked up at in time for a causal lunch in PAC. Lunch, although not officially part of the HC event, is open to any student (from the fieldtrip) wanting to grab a quick bite and get to know each other or answer any questions new students might have.

Students Allied for a Greener Earth, (SAGE), will be hosting ‘An Afternoon at Lincoln Memorial Gardens’ on Friday, August 28th from 12:30pm – 3pm.
Transportation to and from UIS, as well as a ‘light’ lunch will be provided.
Students interested in visiting Lincoln Memorial Garden should meet at the PAC Teardrop (daytime bus stop area). Vans will depart the UIS Teardrop at 12:30pm. and will return to UIS at 3pm.

About Lincoln Memorial Garden: Designed by Jen Jensen, a Danish-born landscape architect, Lincoln Memorial Garden was founded in 1936 to honor Abraham Lincoln and represent the landscape that President Lincoln would have been familiar with in the Midwest. At the Garden, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of 1992, you can walk along a trail, bird-watch or enjoy the wildflowers and the beautiful scenery at your leisure.
