3rd annual Prairie Star 5K

The Department of Campus Recreation will be hosting the 3rd annual Prairie Star 5K on Saturday, September 8, 2018. The Prairie Star 5K is designed to provide an opportunity for comradery between the UIS community and the Springfield community members in a fun relaxed environment, while also getting in some physical activity. The past two years we’ve had roughly 100-150 participants; this year we are hoping for closer to 200!

This year, the race will benefit the Girls on the Run of Central Illinois. We have the UIS group; Legion of Ladies help make this event possible and giving money then to the Central Illinois foundation to help young girls get and stay active and follow their dreams.

We would like to engage the entire UIS community in this event as we feel it will be a great way to spread the word about the programs and services we provide here on campus. We are preparing race packets for everyone who participates and we hope you would be interested in contributing. This could be anything including small token items (ie; pens, pencils, book marks, cups), brochures of your upcoming events or anything else you would like to donate that come from and represent your department well.

We hope that you will consider joining with us again for this great event. If you would like to participate or have any questions, please contact Anna Schoenherr at ascho3@uis.edu.
