Microsoft Exchange

Overview

The UIS campus email, calendar, and contacts system is Microsoft Exchange 2010. Students, Staff, and Faculty use their campus Network ID [NetID] to access their UIS email and calendars. Meeting rooms and other resources can also be scheduled in Exchange. This service is available securely both on and off campus.

Students:

  • A student’s NetID [and email] remains active as long as a student is enrolled. NetIDs also remain active between semesters and over the summer semester.
  • Each student’s mailbox is allotted 1GB of email storage space. Once that limit is reached, no email can be sent or received until the mailbox is back under the 1GB limit.
  • A student’s email address is the student’s NetID followed by @uis.edu: NetID@uis.edu.

Staff/Faculty (Employees):

  • An employee’s NetID [and email] remains active as long as an employee works at UIS. NetIDs also remain active for employees that retire from the university if they request it.
  • Each employee’s mailbox is allotted 2GB of email storage space. Once that limit is reached, no email can be sent or received until the mailbox is back under the 2GB limit.
  • An employee’s email address is the employee’s NetID followed by @uis.edu: NetID@uis.edu.

Related Info: There are various ways to access Exchange.
