Salutations, Farokh:
This encomium’s way past due, and in its email form far too short. I must really draft a more extended version for Kara and compadres’ personnel files, respectively.  Still, I must stop putting off what, today (when she came through the cold to rescue my lecture), became again manifest: how beholden I am to Professor McElrath and her fellows (Zak, Tulio, Rebecca…) though particularly to Kara.
She has taught me so much—and with such warmth and dexterity. Never did I think I could teach online; but she has continually reinforced my confidence (and saved much text). Even so, what mainly occasions this belated memo occurred last Fall, when on their own time Kara and Tulio fixed the computer of a friend and former MA student here, Myrna Felix (you may remember her and her care dog, Yoda, who is memorialized outside Brookens)—in essence, restoring Myrna’s link to the world.
Could I award an MVFM (Most Valuable Faculty Member) with respect for what all she does for all of us, I’d accord it Kara. But she won’t even take a bottle of champagne as poor token of my recompense.
Just wanted to let you know—and ought have, long ago. Thanks, Farokh.

Sincerely,

Ethan
