Exchange Updates – 08/03/15

Update:  Work complete as of 12:15PM.

We will be applying Exchange and Windows updates to the Exchange servers today. Rolling reboots will occur. Some users may be momentarily disconnected and reconnected automatically as their mailbox fails over to other database servers. This process will continue throughout the morning, and into the afternoon until all servers are completed.

Reminder: UISappsrvprod1 will be shutdown after lunch today (7/29)

The migration effort for moving applications and jobs off of the UISappsrvprod1 server was completed last week.

We decided to delay the shutdown of this server until after the Summer 2015 grade submission deadline of noon on Wednesday (7/29/2015) – i.e. today.

So at 1 p.m. today, this server will be shutdown.  It’ll be left in this state for a yet to be determined period – to handle any unforeseen issues that might occur.

New Domain Controller

The new domain controller UISDC2 (10.201.1.102) is up and running. DHCP has been updated to use this new DC as well.

It will replace UISDC02 which is scheduled for shutdown on August 4th. Do not use UISDC02’s IP of 10.101.10.38 for DNS or any other configurations as of now, and the process of phasing out its usage should begin now.

The old Windows Server 2008 domain controllers UISDC01 and UISDC02 will be shutdown on August 4th, and will be completely decommissioned shortly after.

New Domain Controller

The new domain controller UISDC1 (10.201.1.101) is up and running. This is now the PDC of the UISAD domain. DHCP has been updated to use this new DC as well.

It will replace UISDC01 which is scheduled for shutdown on August 4th. Do not use UISDC01’s IP of 10.101.10.36 for DNS or any other configurations as of now, and the process of phasing out its usage should begin now.

Tomorrow, the same process can begin for UISDC02.
